ABOUT US
Trio Turbulences was conceived in 2024 in a cooperative project with the MAH de Genève to augment the link between music and painting at the dawn of the Baroque.
Thus resulted in an original concert in front of 16th and 17th century paintings expressing the the passions of the soul (affetti). Since then, historical interpretation and historical improvisation have been at the core of the ensemble’s artistic identity.
The formation of voice, lute and cornett is minimalist to maintain the intimacy and power of the text of early Baroque works. The original incorporation of cornett improvisation to the lute’s continuo allows the additional melodic instrument to alternate between a melodic or continuo role. Our vision is to go so far as to reimagine this 16th and 17th century music as part of our deep interest in historical practice that blurs the line between historical composition, improvisation and interpretation.
