ABOUT US
Trio Turbulences was founded in 2024 as part of a research project at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, in collaboration with the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Genève.
Trio Turbulences has developed an artistic approach grounded in original printed sources and manuscripts, engaging directly with historical materials and explore historically informed improvisation and composition as part of its practice. Key to the ensemble is understanding music as an active creative process, unfolding between the time of composition and the moment of performance. Interpretations delve further in the compositional aspect, preserving the original but with its own characterisation.
The ensemble—voice, cornett, and lute—embraces a deliberately minimalist instrumentation in order to preserve the intimacy and expressive power of the texts. The timbre of the cornett, so close to the human voice, at times blends seamlessly with it, creating new sonic colors and enhancing both the expressivity and rhetorical force of the texts.
Trio Turbulences has performed in collaboration with institutions such as the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Genève (MAH) and the Musée de la Réforme de Genève. The ensemble has also been invited to the L’Estivale Festival in Allinges (August 2025) and to the Théâtre de l’Orangerie in Geneva (August 2025).
The ensemble wins First Prize at the Première Chamber Music Competition at the FestiVita! festival in Brussels (February 2026), and has been invited to perform at the Festival de Saintes in July 2026.
A concert tour in the Netherlands is already scheduled for November 2026.
